Who this covers
The Moreneta Initiative Ltd (ACN 700 396 229) is an Australian not-for-profit company. This policy covers personal information we collect through this website, moreneta.org.au.
We treat ourselves as bound by the Australian Privacy Principles under the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth) and handle information accordingly.
What we collect, and how
The supporter list. If you use the signup form linked from this site, we collect the email address you enter and the one interest option you choose — volunteer, funder, or general supporter. We also record the time of your submission and the version of the collection notice shown to you at the time.
That is everything. This form has no name field, no phone number, no organisation and no free-text box, so we do not hold those things. We do not buy, rent or otherwise obtain supporter details from anyone else.
Website request logs. This site runs on Fly.io infrastructure in Sydney. We have switched off the web server's access log, so we do not retain a record of who visited which page. We use no analytics, tracking scripts, advertising tools or cookies on this site. Fly.io is a US-incorporated company and may therefore be subject to US legal process even though the servers are in Australia.
Why we collect it
To send you occasional email updates about Moreneta's progress and launch. That is the only purpose for which we collect and use the supporter list.
How it is held, and who else holds it
The signup form is run by Tally BV, a company based in Ghent, Belgium, acting as our processor under a data processing agreement. Submissions are stored on Tally's servers in the European Union, encrypted in transit and at rest, and are therefore held outside Australia and subject to the EU General Data Protection Regulation. Access to the responses is restricted to named directors of the company using multi-factor authentication.
We do not disclose the supporter list to any other organisation, and we do not use it for any purpose other than sending you updates about Moreneta.
How long we keep it
We delete your details from the supporter list:
- as soon as reasonably practicable after you ask us to; or
- within 30 days of moving the list to a dedicated mailing platform; and
- in any case by 31 March 2027, whichever comes first.
Getting access, corrections, or deletion
Email hello@moreneta.org and ask us for a copy of what we hold about you, to correct it, or to delete it. You do not need to give a reason. We will respond within a reasonable period, and we do not charge for this.
Complaints
If you think we have mishandled your personal information, email hello@moreneta.org. The Secretary of the company is responsible for privacy matters and will acknowledge your complaint, investigate it, and write to you with the outcome.
If you are not satisfied with our response, you can complain to the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner at oaic.gov.au.
About the Moreneta service itself
Moreneta — the service we are building — is designed to be anonymous by default. It does not ask for or store names, email addresses or phone numbers, and someone can get help without identifying themselves. The supporter list described in this policy is a deliberate, narrow exception that exists only because supporters asked to be kept informed. It is held separately, and people who use Moreneta to find help are never added to it.
When the service launches publicly we will publish a separate, fuller privacy policy covering it. This policy does not attempt to describe it.
Changes to this policy
If we change this policy we will publish the new version here with a new version number and date. The version shown to you when you signed up is recorded against your entry.
